In the beginning...

It all started on a call-out in Glencoe in 1960 when there was great difficulty getting the Team's stretcher to an inaccessible accident location. A lighter, compact stretcher was essential and so the MacInnes Mk.1 stretcher was born. This was all aluminium construction alloy and it folded in two, with swing back carrying shafts. It also hade a single wheel system with a hub brake. The bed was of pre-stretched nylon mesh.

Since then constant development has taken place and today the MacInnes Mk 6 and the MacInnes Superlite are standard issue to many rescue teams. Over the last five years the MacInnes Mk 7 lightweight stretcher has been developed, which is at the cutting edge of modern technology.
